Can I get an associated degree as an RN and still be able to do Labor and Delivery nursing? |
Just trying to get as many possibilities as I can. Really want the Labor and Delivery field...I can only go for 2 years RIGHT NOW, it is possible I could go back a little later, for 2 more years but, associates degree is all I want right now. Can I get an associates degree and work in the labor a delivery field???? Yes, My old college roomate did that . she is an RN with her Asso. she worked on another unit because no L&D positions were available at the time she graduated, but yes it can be done. ask a nursing professor at a local college that offers the associates degree. Rachel, Im an L&D nurse and I have my ADN, so yes. RNs with Associates degrees are RN's, just like those with a BSN. In the past there was a larger difference and a preference for those with BSNs, but today the ADN programs prepare RNS as well as 4 year programs. If your goal later on is administration or specialized nsg areas, such as clinical nurse specialist, CRNA, nurse practitioner, etc, then you will need a BSN. Good news is that you can get your ADN, and work as an RN while completing your BSN or even Masters almost completely online :o) |
