I am interested in getting an associates degree in nursing, as a RN level. What all can I do with that? |
I want to know the the job choices I have out there with this degree. What kind of income would I make as an RN? An associate degree in nursing will get you to the RN level. After you complete the degree, you will have to pass the state board exam for your state which is about $300 and very hard. Nursing is a science, you have to learn all about the human body, so yes it takes a lot of science. Math is also required when dealing with medications. I am currently in nursing school and we have one math test per semester that you must pass with a 90% or above to continue on in the program. You get 3 chances per semester and if you don't pass with a 90 or better on your 3rd try, you are kicked out of the program....so yes you have to be good in math as well. Nursing school is very hard, it requires almost all of your time and most people do not work while attending nursing school. It is no walk in the park....only the best make it and trust me, after your first clinical experience, you will know whether your heart is in it or not. Nurses deal with people at their worst and it takes a certain person to be able to handle it. A lot goes into it, not just the science and math, but communication and psychology as well. After all, you are responsible for people's lives. You have to have the right motivation to be a successful nurse. If you are in it for the money, you won't make it. Most RNs make around $40,000-$70,000 per year, some make more. Your first year as an RN you will be making graduation pay which is about $17-$25 an hour to start, and after that your pay increases, provided that you are a hard worker and try to advance your career. It also depends on what field you go into. There are RNs in everything from pediatric to post op to nursing homes to law offices and forensic nurses. The job outlook is expected to grow faster than normal and by 2015 this country will be 800,000 nurses short. obviously you could be a nurse but another interseting job is being a clinical researcher for a pharmacutical company, like Merck......... you basically monitor studies on tests with new drugs that companies are making and find doctors and patients that are good for the specific tests. I'm sorry, but am not understanding your question. You want to be an RN through Associates Degree. Did you mean how you can achieve this? or what job opportunities are there for this degree? just go to nursing school for the RN - you don't need a college degree - they make very good money most places Your local community college is the only place to get an Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN). BSN and MSN programs are 4 years+ degree programs offered through hospitals or universities with medical schools. associates degree is great.. pays 60,000 to 100,000 |
