Do you need to have a bachelors degree in nursing to be an RN?

Do you need to have a bachelors degree in nursing to be an RN?

Registered nurses are payed well so here's the gist of it; Some old peoples retirement homes are in such need of staff that they will send you to school. As far as needing a bachelors degree, im not sure, but I know as an RN you need to be a 'Registered nurse' so schooling is unavoidable. For further questions I would contact a college nearby.

There are bachelors degree programs in Nursing but there are also a lot of Associates programs in Nursing too, I don't think either are required to be certified though.

An Associate Degree from an accredited college will permit you to sit for State Board exams in Indiana. I would think that is pretty standard nationwide. A BSN would certainly open more doors, but you can make a good living as an RN with only an ASN. Good Luck

I have my Associates degree in Nursing & have worked as an RN supervisor for the last 9 years.I was an LPN the 9 years prior to that. I have no desire to get my Bachelors' Degree, and have great job stability, good benefits, and the pay is great, too. Good luck in whatever you choose to do!
