Clinically do you feel that having your Bachelor's in nursing is better than Associates degree in nursing?

If you just want to be a staff nurse

do you think nurses with their BSN are more prepared. We have have debate going on in one of my nursing classes

I do believe that BSN nurses are better prepared, knowing more about research processes and evidence based practice, more about nursing care models and other theories that apply to nuring care, etc.

But I still firmly believe that ADN nurses are perfectly capable of perfoming the functions that are necessary for RNs to perform. Having a BSN doesn't automatically make you a better nurse. Many people have tons of knowledge but still in practice don't know how to synthesize it an apply it to patient care. So for those reasons I do not support the current push from many to require BSN as the minimum degree for licensure.

Nope. If you just want to be a staff nurse go for it. Clinically they are the same, actually the Associate degree nurse has more clinical experience because in the Bachelor's program they focus more on the management side of nursing. I am an Associate degree nurse and make around $60-65k currently stationed in Texas. Can make in upwards of $100k if I want to travel to California. I'm up there, if not above nurses with a Bachelor's degree. The only drawback is that I DO want to further my education and have to first get my Bachelor's degree to do so. Think about it! You may want to go higher later on. Getting your Bachelor's right off will help! Good luck!
