Can you get a master's degree in nursing if your bachelor's degree is in something else?

i am getting my bachelor's in social work. but now i am interested in nursing. changing my major is out of the question and my school doesn't have a nursing program anymore anyways. i heard that you could get a doctorate in nursing without a bachelor's in nursing.

+ yes, However your problem will be getting accepted into a college that offers the degree that you want. Try telling them that you will pay the entire projected tuition in advance. That usually gets them motivated.

Yes, it's possible to get a master's degree in nursing if you have a non-nursing bachelor's degree. You will probably have to enroll in an "accelerated" program which is designed especially for people who already have non-nursing bachelor's degrees but want to obtain either a second bachelor's or a master's degree in nursing. Here is a link to a list of schools in the U.S. with such accelerated programs:

I think that a BSN is a prerequisite to being accepted into an MSN program. You may be able to enroll in a school's BSN program and, on completing that, go straight into the school's MSN program.
