Businees degree or nursing?

I am deciding a major and i have to pick between business and nursing. What do you think?

What a person chooses for a career cannot be selected based on:

a. the opinion of faceless people on the internet

b. the best job market (thogh job potential should drive your decision to some degree)

c. what people say are wonderful jobs for them.

You have a personality, likes desires and dreams. If you are trying to decide between such dispirate career fields such as these, you may need to see a career counselor. These are usually available in most community college, college, and university counselling centers. They will discuss these issues with you, and can give you some personality and apptitude testing which may well indicate where your best interest lie.

When I started college, I had a music scholarship, but found I did not want a career in music. My brother convinced me that as there would always be people buying and selling in good and bad economies, there would always be a need for buisness majors. So I tried business, and struggled and hated every minute of it. I wasted a year of college, and ended up dropping all my classes the second semester and going top work, because I found business school to be tedious. I then went to the counselling center, after testing and talking to the counselors I found that all my apptitudes were in medical fields. I enjoyed all my classes and have enjoyed my career.

Not that a business major is bad, my brother is the CEO of a corporation at 53 y/o and loves business.

I have thoroughly loved my career and am mostly retired except for some consulting and research at 51. I have loved health care.

Pick the career that you will be happy with, not neccessarily the one which looks best to others or maybe has the best job outlook on paper this year. You never know what changes in health care policy at the government level might do to health care. If we get a universal coverage in the US there will probably be more RN positions, but it is likely that the salaries would grow slowly if the government had some level of control on health care. Also, if we had any form of unversal/social medicine would any of us enjoy working in that system. You can't know those answers.

personally I would say nursing as its a tool you can rely on till you're 85 ?
Business is only good if you have loads cash and want to invest ?

Not much difference between them although there are not many nurses in the accounts department, although the hospitals do seem to be short of nurses but overloaded with managers.

my dear friend, depends on wat u want to do in future!! if u want to be in office work , businees degree would be ur best choice. but if u likes to look after others, nursing would be perfect for it!! CHEERS

If you are a kind, compassionate person with infinite patience and vow to NEVER treat your patients like they are a burden, then please do become a nurse. Us routine patients could REALLY use some more nurses who got into the business because they actually have compassion for people. There's nothing like feeling like your nurse would rather be anywhere but taking care of you, which is her job!

If you have an idea what you want to do in business, then do that. But a lot of people get business degrees having no idea what they want to do, and they you end up searching for a job that you HOPE you like.
