Will a foundation degree gain me access to do a nursing degree to become a qualified nurse? |
I am currently a support worker for the nhs, and want to become a qualified nurse. If I do a foundation degree in health and social care, I have been told that this will gain me entry to nuse training, and will mean that I only have to do 1 - 2 years, instead of 3. does anyone know if this is true or not? I am currently pursing my BSN and to answer your question I believe that you can build on that foundational degree so long as you have all of your necessary pre-requisites out of the way. Have you already completed all of your Area A-F on your course outline for a Bachelor's degree? It's the same no matter what field you go into. (Math, English, BIOL, CHEM, etc.) If your answer is yes to that question then you are on the right track, if no then you need to schedule an appointment with an advisor soon to secure yourself a spot in the program. You are familiar with the Nursing Program, correct?? I hope this helps you a little. Good Luck! I'm not an expert however; there are many programs out there for people with degrees who wish to begin a nursing career. The Accelerated BSN will allow you to get a BSN in 1 year if you already have a degree in something else. Most of these programs are intense and require you not to work while completing the program so that's the only other things to consider. |
