nursing degree? I want to be a cardiologist and I want to do nursing first and work as a nurse while I become a cardiologist. So, what should I do?

In order to get a nursing degree, you have to go to nursing school for 2 years once you've finished 2 years of nursing school prerequisites. (Every nursing school is different in what it requires) You don't have to have any specific degree since you would move on to the nursing school and get your degree there. It would be a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree. But you can't be a practicing registered nurse without having the training that you need to have from nursing school.

What I would recommend is that you get a degree in biology (that way you fulfill the requirements for almost any med school) and then go to nursing school for 2 years to become a nurse. (If you try to go straight to nursing school, you won't be fulfilling all the requirements for the medical school, so you would have to stop and go back to school to get all those extra classes instead of going straight to med school whenever you feel like applying.) Practice nursing as long as you want to, and then apply to medical school and that way you will already have all your prerequisites for med school and some experience under your belt and you can go straight for your MD instead of having to stop and take extra classes. You have to be a Nursing major in order to be a Nurse. Nursing school is not considered pre-med. You should look at a college that has both nursing and pre-med and look at the differences in the coursework.
