America's values - screwed up or not? Opinions wanted.?

There's something I just don't understand. Singers, songwriters, actors, directors, etc. get paid mad money to shake their fanny in front of people or run around on a movie set. Yet military, cops, firefighters, teachers and even those in the medical field, in comparison, make crap. My father works for the Sheriff's office as a sergeant and he has 2 other jobs just so we can make the bills and have food to eat. We don't spend our money frivolously, we live comfortably. But he works 6-7 day a week shifts and we hardly ever see him. My uncle is a firefighter, and it's the same for him. Of course, we all know how bad the money is for teachers. I am going to be a nurse, and I know I'll make pretty good money....but my question is, why do the people who entertain us make more than those that teach the next generation and keep us safe and healthy? It seems like America values entertainment over safety, health, and education. Do you agree? If not, please tell me why. I want to know.

An example...Orlando wants to spend about a billion dollars for a stadium that people can sit in and watch games...but they REFUSE to make up for the lost funds for the police force. I understand that yes, entertainment has it's values...but is it REALLY more important than safety? In my opinion, if you are for the stadium then you have NO RIGHT to complain when our police officers will have to stop some of their programs because they don't have the funds to support them.

The thing that makes this so is that Americans would rather put money into entertainment that taxes.

I don't think Americans know how their tax dollars are spent and most of the time assume the government is throwing it out on frivolous things.

I agree absolutely I think about this too esspecially when you watch those "Fabulous Life" type shows they have. It's ridiculous.

Yes, I agree with u. But it seems that when we are entertained, we forget about the stress in our lives, and everyone wants to forget about work and be happy...and apparently we will pay for that. It's wrong..and it just makes it harder for us to tell our kids that those images on tv are bad, when all they see are happy entertainers rolling in dough, for doing thirty minutes of nothing. It's easy come, easy go for some of those ppl, and it's not easy to tell kids that the lesser paying jobs are more rewarding...but then u see stories like Lindsay Lohan...and u find an upside to ur struggles, because atleast u have an excuse for not being there for ur kid as much as u should've been. This is y I get P.O.ed at politicians when they put ALL the responsibility on the dual income parents. These are only opinions, I don't mean to offend or anything.

We have our priorities wrong. If we didn't ,and I don't, pay to go see all that junk, those misfits wouldn't be making all that money. Those misfits are also what has brought the downfall
of American morality . Those people make millions of dollars for a few hours work. I worked in an operating room for years,
60-80 hrs/wk, and was lucky to get $45,000. At least I'm not ashamed of what I did or can still do. Take away their agents and see what they can do. America needs to wake up and stop feeding these egos.
