Career Advice? |
I start school in January. I know my first 2 years will be my core classes but I still would like to have an idea of what I want to do. I absolutly love English, I love to read, and I also love to write. I have thought about education but I am still debating. I also have worked for businesses for 3 years now and I enjoy it. I have thought about medical field but I don't know if my stomach (or emotions!) can handle it. Nursing, surgion, and anything to do with looking "inside" of the body are absolutly out of the question! Serious answers only. :) Well.. I am sure not everyone that graduates high school knows what they want to major in? Wow! That's a lot to think about. Your first 2 years of college don't have to just be core classes. Take a couple classes of interest- something basic. See if you like it. People change their majors all of the time. And people change career fields all of the time. I'm not even going to ask how you graduated from high school without having some sort of career plan (college is not a career), because that's probably your school's fault. However, the first thing I would suggest is that you go online and take some career assessments. These assessments will ask you questions about your likes, dislikes, skills, etc. From there, it will offer suggestions for good career matches for you. There are lots of other careers besides teacher and nurse. One way to combine both these fields (human services and health sciences) is in the social work field or in occupational/speech therapy OR you can combine business and health science by being a Hospital Administrator (huge demand and great pay in this field). |
