Clinical Nurse Specialist?

how many years of education is needed?
What type of degrees are required ?
what is the highest salary ?

what are some of the best schools to get the best education for this ?

A clinical nurse specialist has a Master's degree in nursing, with an extended track of education and clinical experience in a specialty area. With the Master's degree and general requirements to become a CNS, you're looking at six years of college... plus the clinical hours required (usually 600-1200) depending on the specialty.

I live in the Louisville, Kentucky area, and the salary.com report said they make between $80,000-$110,000/year based on what area of speciality they are in. In this area, University of Louisville is the only school I know of offering a CNS degree, with one track in psychology and another in oncology. I'd suggest using Yahoo and salary.com to find the information for your area.

Hope that helps!
