Would you be surprised to know that US companies are hiring nurses who didn't get their training and?

education in the US. There are companies who assist them in getting licenses here. Their housing and visa fees are paid by these companies. They are paid MORE than regular staff nurses at these companies, EVEN though they have less experience than the regular staff. To make matters worse, these nurses get special treatment, because they do not speak English well and are seen as "not being able to handle" certain situations and the regular number of patients. SO, the regular staff must work harder and pick up the slack. At the same time, these companies tell their staff that times are tough and only give minimal cost of living increases to regular staff. Am I the only US citizen this shocks?? What CAN we do?

Creditials, yes, Passed NCLEX and ACLS certified.
Qualified, obviously not, if the employees are "not able to handle" the normal workload and VERY difficult to understand and communicate with because of lack of English skills.

No this is not surprising. You can request to get verification of who is attending to you prior to you seeking treatment at a health care provider. Also contact your congressman/woman. But always have documented facts on what you are saying. No one takes an accusation as fact unless you have facts to back it up.

Are you saying these nurses are not qualified or credentialed to administer health care in the US? If so, call your attorney general and make some noise. I'm in the health care field myself and I really don't see the problem you describe in my neck of the woods.

No it is not a shock. It happens everyday. If you don't like your job, get a different career.

Shocked at what its been a long held practise to recruit and hire all sorts of medical staff from around the world. Everyone is doing it Canada, the US, Britain, Japan. What can you do improve your training and increase the number of trained nurses and doctors. Of course you can always ban the use of none US nurses and face increased work loads and shortages in staff. Then who suffers the patient. Its called Private health care for a reason they make and follow their own rules and need to meet staffing demands just like any other company. I take it your new in nursing if that's the case this is only one of many shocks your about to face.

stop hiring foreighn nurses, and double the wages for the US trained nurses.

Thing like this happen a lot in most careers its like ups and downs of life i guess.
