Marines or navy?? *edited*?

hii..
I am a 18 years old girl. I'm thinking about joining the Navy or Marines. I guess I'm just looking for some info or personal experiences. I have checked out the Navy and Marines website and got some information and stuff, but I would like to know first hand from someone who is in the Navy or Marines. I have talked to my parents my dad is all for it, but with my mom thats a different story she doesnt want me to go away. What should I expect? etc. I feel that I am ready to do this.. please serious answers only also what do you think i should do? what should my first step be? can anyone point me in the right direction? I am committed to do this. I have always wanted to join ever since i was a child. I know that I want to get an education and work in the medical field. I have always been interested in nursing or hospital type work. I am a girly girl, but have been raised with 4 older brother. I know how to get down and dirty and don't mind it at all.

My family says that I am stubborn and hardheaded. I know what I want and I'm not afraid to go out and get it. I am determined to do this. Once I have my mind set on something, I know I can do it that's just the type of person I am.

If you like medical , I know exactly what you should do . Join the Navy , when you talk to the recruiter , say you want to be a Hospital Corpsman . You start out as like a nursing asst. then basically the nurse . You get great education and great experience . You have so many options to succeed , free school . Like Xray tech school or O.R. tech . Many more than that , that have high paying jobs as civilian . Plus with the Navy your for the most part not going to be in any danger , especially as a female . The pay is good too . And lastly , as a Corpsman with the Navy , your sometimes attached to the Marines , because they dont have a medical program , so the Navy has corpsman work with the marines . Mostly in Combat , but the girls well also work on the marines base at hospitals or clinics . Join the Navy and you wont regret it . Try joining and going to a Nursing Program , youll get free education and be an officer in the navy as an R.N. Just trust me when i say dont sleep with any of the navy men , i saw too many girls ruin there life by getting pregnant by a horny 18 year old then your screwed . Good luck !

i joined the army, trust me, go airforce. (not that i dont love what i do, but i am infantry, if you want a career, go airforce)

Well if you want to go medical, the choice is obvious. It looks like the Navy for you.

The Navy would be much easier than the Marines. I was a Marine and my wife was in the Navy. They had beer in the coke machines in the barracks. We were lucky just to have coke in the machines, wouldn't allow beer in the barracks at all. Check into becoming a medic in the Navy sounds like you would enjoy it. Good Luck and Semper Fi

If you are interested in either the Marines or Navy, and also the medical field, join the Navy as a corpsman, and request a posting with the Fleet Marine Force. The Marines don't have their own medical personnel, we get them from the Navy. My unit's corpsman told me that he volunteered to work with Marines.

If you do that, you get to work in a medical field, join the Navy, and work with the Marines. Corpsmen get great respect from Marines.

If you are intersted in the Medical field check into the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Navy! The Marines don't have Medical personnel They have Navy Corpsmen attached to them for deployments.

Army - You will be working with ground troops, work in a Hospital, clinic or in a Field Unit (tents), most likely deploy to a war zone.

Air Force - Might fly around in an Air Force evacuation Airplane, work in a Hospital , clinic, some are now deployed in the war zone.

Navy - assigned to a ship, shore duty (Hospitals, clinics) assigned to the Marines.(you go where the Marines go)

Coast Guard - Assigned to their various stations (stateside), assigned to a Coast Guard ship or deployed overseas (voluntary)

Talk to A recruiter or a veteran that has experience in the Medical Field for more information.
also google Army Medical Center & School. FSHTX
Good Luck!
