Will anyone hire me with a prior DUI/OWI conviction?

I'm in college. I made a mistake. I'm not trying to justify my actions, so I don't need your **** about "facing the consequences". However, the master's degree I was pursuing in student counseling (ironic, I know) is useless to me now, as not education system will hire me with this on my record. I looked into nursing (I've already taken a ton of biological science type courses) and to no avail. I can't even be admitted to the program with this on my record. I understand paying for your actions, I really do, but condemning a 22 year old to blue-collar factory work (it seems, if I'm LUCKY!) for the rest of her life is absolutely absurd! Is every career path I attempt to follow going to end in the same result? Does anyone have any insight as to what other states are like? There is a flaw in this system. Giving someone an empty future with no possible redemption is conducive to them abusing alcohol and drugs and being iresponsible and unproductive.

This type conviction is taken much more seriously now than in the past.
It is an indication that a person is not mature, irresponsible, not trust worthy and possibly prone to drug use and abuse.
Many company insurance agents will not cover such an employee. There are many well qualified applicants for most jobs so an employer has a good selection to chose from. Sorry, good luck

I think some companies will. I think certain career paths such as a teacher, nurse, lawyer, etc wont hire those with any kind of record. But I know people who have gotten DUIs and they are able to find jobs. Good luck!

be patient and honest on applications; many people have made that mistake; some of them hire and even work in hr.

Good luck

Many will not hire it also depends on the job you wanted to do. I would hire you but it is farm labor. Just depends on the person doing the hiring.

So what you made a mistake.Don't give up on pursuing the career you want.First offense D.U.I. is a misdemeanor.Should you think that you can't into being a counselor position try going to a drug\alcohol rehab center and ask the counselors if they ever had a drinking and\or drug problem I would bet you'd be surprised by their answers.
DON'T BE SO QUICK TO GIVE UP! That's the fastest way to a drug problem.
