How can an Australian nurse become an RN in America?

My girlfriend will soon be a registered nurse in Australia. She was educated here at an Australian university and now works in an Australian hospital, but is an American citizen. How can she become an RN in America? Will she need to take a test or is more education required?

Generally, the USA has tougher standards in becoming a RN. Most other countries have different standards/requirements. I do know that the Philippines is one country that has similar requirements as the US. More than likely, she'll have to take an exam in order for her to become a RN. Best for her to contact the Board of Nursing in the state that she'll move to. I hope that this helps.

She will have to take a test. And of course, if she passes then she'll be good to go-I think.

She can see what credits from the AU schooling xfers to American colleges, and then obtain her BSN and go on to test in a particular state.
