What steps should i take in order to become a physical therapist?

Im a senior in high school, and i have chosen to be a physical therapist one day. i enrolled in Texas A&M Intenational University in Laredo in the Nursing program. did i do a right choice? can i get my BS in Nursing and be a physical therapist? or do i need to continue my education in another school after those four years?

You will eventually need to go to grad school to become a PT. If you get your BS in nursing, you will probably get some of the courses that are required to get into the grad program...but most likely, you will need to return to complete a few more classes. I would want to know why you enrolled in the nursing program though. If it's to help make money during grad school, I think you should seriously reconsider. PT programs are historically very rigerous and leave very little time for working a part time job.

Once you have complete your prerequisite courses, you can apply to either a masters or doctorate level PT program. go to the APTA website at :

www.apta.org to view a list of accredited programs.
