What are the chances to succeed for an asian nurse with a husband and child in migrating to canada?

I am a filipino nurse? Can I immediately or easily get a job in canada? Will we ever survive with the salary to cover housing, foods, child education and other basic needs? Would the salary for a nurse be enough to get a house on an installment basis?

You will have no problems. Just be patient and pick the right job. Research every offer, it's easy to do these days on the Internet. Remember, the salary they quote is before tax. In Canada taxes can easily eat up to 1/2 your salary.

Have you checked with the nursing boards in Canada to find out if your education in Asia would be acceptable to the Canadian standards? You need to find a contact, because you might find yourself being at a level of a LVN versus an RN; in the event you are now considered an Registered Nurse. An RN has more education and training. An LVN usually has the equivalent of a vocational training, and not a four year degree or masters in a specialty. Canada is socialized medicine, so you should also check out salaries in Canada since they are funded by the Government. Your chances are very good. Canada is very short of nurses and you could possibly get a good portion, if not all, of your moving costs covered by an employer here. As someone else said, check to ensure that your nursing credentials are accepted here. I believe they are, though, as I seem to have heard that filipino nurses qualify here. If I were you, once I checked out your credentials to make sure they qualify here, I would apply for many different nursing jobs and get the employers competing for you which, in turn, would likely increase your rate of pay and other benefits. The employers may even offer to complete and pay for your immigration documents. Yes, nurses make enough money to pay for homes and survive nicely. You could easily support your husband and child on your salary here, perhaps while your hubby gets his education and/or documents to enable him to work here. Nurses are a much-in-demand employee here. I live in BC.

As a result of the shortage of nurses and physical therapist in the United States the government has made it possible for nurses and physical therapist in other countries to migrate to the United States or adjust status without undergoing the entire labor certification procedures. As a result nurses and physical therapist can get their green cards faster that people in other professions.

Canada doesn't hire nurses directly from other countries like US does..... the only way for a Pinoy to be able to get in Canada is either to apply for a skilled worker visa which he/she got to pass the point system and will normally takes up to 3 years processing. Most Pinoys did the shortest way and that's thru the caregiver entry.... if you or an agency will be able to find you an employer for a caregiver job, this will only takes up to 1 year processing. You will have a 2 year working permit and as soon as that's finish you will be eligible to apply for a Landed Immigrant status.. meaning a permamnent resident status and after that if you wish to apply for a citizenship.... just wait for another 3 years or the equivalent of 1,095 days. Even when you get in Canada by skilled worker's entry, you cannot work as an RN immediately... you will be required to go back to any community college for an upgrading which will take about 6 months to 1 year... depends what's your experience says.....
then you've got the licencing exams to do... and when you pass it, then that's the only time you will be able to work as an RN.
In regards to an RN salary.... it is more than enough to live through and yes you will be able to afford to buy your own house provided that you've got a clean credit rating.... meaning.... all of this you'll find it out yourself quickly enough as soon as you arrive in Canada.
