Career change?

Can anybody recommend a career outside of nursing that pays well that does not require 5plus years of education. Please do not suggest engineering as I am poor at math. I know the following degrees do not pay well: bach. in sociology, psych, history, liberal arts. I know the following do but my age and skills are a deficit: engineering and computers. Any suggestions? I am currently a nurse but am seriously considering leaving the profession. I'm burnt out.

Read this book:

What Color is Your Parachute.

If you are a "people person" Real Estate can pay well. It requires long hours for the first few years, after which you enjoy being self-employed and having a flexible schedule. Contrary to popular belief it does not require a lot of math or financial knowledge - its all about being nice to people!

I know what you mean. I'm a Respiratory Therapist and sick of it. How about becoming a Physcian Assistant? That's what I'm going to do. It's still in the medical profession, but at least you'll be writing orders instead of taking them. I've also thought of going into business for myself because I'm pretty creative, but I'm kind of scared. Email me if you get a chance and let me know what you've been thinking about.

note that anyway, engineering require 5+ years studies...

anything you have a passion at, and that you will love learning is a good idea, but you may want to consider going back to school if affordable, think of what you like to do.

Cooking? social activities? just think it up, and consider what kind of professional activity can be done in those fields.

Try social work.

I am a nurse, too. Have you considered a change within your profession? What kind of nursing do you do? Hospital nursing will burn you out rather easily. I work in a doctor's office and LOVE it. What about FNP? It will only take 1 year, 1.5 years max and depending on where you live, the possiblities are endless. Plus, the salaries are good and once you get a little experience, can make 100k +. This is what I'm going to do. Just an idea!
