One for the doctors out there, HELP!!!? |
I had shingles, and i'm sure i don't need to explain shingles. My last outbreak was activated by a bad head cold Yes, unfortunately it can come back. Remember not to touch it, because it can appear in other places in addition to your first sight of breakout. You need to ask your doctor to get you on some acyclovir or another drug used for the "herpes" type virus. If you find that you break out often with the shingles-you can ask your doctor if he/she would consider putting you on a year of taking the meds on a daily basis.-sometimes this actually helps you from getting another flair up. Also, try to always keep the medication handy, because you usually get tingly sensations before the shingles appear- starting the meds right away can either prevent the outbreak or at least lessen the severity. My husband had this on his waist line all the way around his stomach and up his back - I've seen how painful it is. My grandmother had it on her forehead and down the side of her face around her eye. Its just awful.- they both used this medication and continue to do so when needed. Yes, you can have another episode of the shingles numerous times. Stress can cause them also.. You might want to see if your doc can give you antiviral drugs if it becomes more often. It is possible to have shingles again, there are antivirals that you can use during the itchy prodrome that can prevent another outbreak. It's an annoying virus because it lodges itself inside the nerve roots and hides out in there, but it does respond quite well to antivirals. I had this once a long time ago, but it was also in addition to a staff infection. It was miserable. The doctor gave me an anahistomine (sp). I scarred too on my torso area but they faded with time. |
