Job fair at community college?

I am attending a job fair at the community college in my area although I am not a student there but am a member of the community. They said both students and members of the community can attend the fair. Nevertheless, we do not know what types of companies are going to attend the fair, whether it is an education fair or a computer science fair or a nursing fair or technology fair. I am going to check out what companies are going to be there and see if there are any that interest me. You think they would usually say so. Also, the job fair is taking place from 11am to 1pm. I do not know but I think that they should allot a bit more time for the job fair maybe have it from 10am-3pm or something. I do not know how much can be done with only two hours. Chances are that there will be long lines because people will want to hurry up and get to lunch. I would think it is going to be pretty crowded during those hours. What do you think about it?

If you have the time, it will be worth your while to go... if you are a job seeker, you have nothing to lose.

However, it is my experience that these job fairs are a joke. If you are a professional, or looking for a professional type job, the recruiters are not there to hire these types of people. Typically, the jobs to be filled at these things are for clerical, trade, or just plain grunt jobs.

I think it will be worth your time to go. Only companies that are serious about hiring will spend the time and effort to be at a job fair.

Now, they may not be companies that you want to work for, but the companies that are there will definitely be serioous about hiring people.

Good luck!
