HELP! I want to be a nurse!?

YES this is a very bold statement and can lead to a million and one answers. . .but i want to become a nurse. . .could you help me with the following questions?
- What are the different kinds of nurses and what do they do?
- What kind of education do you need to be these?
- What can i do now in high school to prepare?
. . .and any additional things you think i may need to know!. . . .

if you dont want to explain everything, i would even appreciate just some websites i could look into and research on. . .thank you!

Your local library should have the book "Occupational Outlook". In it it will tell you everything that is required to become a nurse, what the different types are, what the working conditions are like, what salaries they make, and job opening prospects for the next few years.

You could try interning at a doctors office and learn things

Wow. You go to school. Nursing school. And you study so much so that you think you cannot breathe eat or sleep. And then take it further. Find a good school. Accredited in the arts. And pay it forward. At all costs. That makes a nurse.

here in California, you can be an LVN or an RN you can also be a CNA.

An LVN only requires 1 yr (I think) of school at a JR. College. An RN requires a 2 year program (I am doing this now) plus all the general ed and pre reqs you take before. It takes about 4 years here to get an RN. You can also get your RN from a 4 year college. Either way, if you have your RN you get paid the same, and can work in the same departments. If you have a BS in nursing it will allow you to be a manager, or do teaching, or community nursing. An LVN does a lot of what an RN does but not everything, and the pay is considerable less. What can you do now? Take the highest math classes you can, so you don't have to take them in college, take chemistry so you don't have to take it again, and decide where you want to go and learn about your program. In California there is a 2 year wait to get into the program. Good luck to you, hope this helps.

If you have a community college in your area, check with them, or simply pick up one of their college catalogs. The catalog will tell you all the prerequisite courses (the courses you need to take before applying to the nursing program). It will also have an in-depth explanation of the nursing program itself, as well as a list of all the courses included in the nursing program. Most junior colleges offer a 2 year nursing program where you can get a 2 year nursing degree. If you want, you can then go on to a 4-year university and get a 4-year degree, which is required for some supervisory/teaching positions. One of the things that you can do to prepare while you are still in high school is to get the best grades you possibly can, especially in math and science (biology, etc., or whatever you are taking in high school as far as a science class).Best of luck to you.

I think you should start now by researching extensively in the field. Look at different universities and see about their nursing programs.

Start now by doing good in Chemistry, Biology, and try to add on another challenging subject like Physics or an advanced math. You are going to need to pay attention to these subjects. Keep your grades up and a great SAT/ACT score to recieve your scholarships.

I feel that you should really take some time out and research as much as you can to really make sure that this is what you want to do...
