Will it be better to be a surgeon, a surgical nurse or a physician assistant? |
i'm a freshman in college and i'm currently a communications major but i'm about to switch majors and i am seriously thinking about getting into the medical track. but i am iffy about the whole idea of med school, the debt, the four extra years of school and the residency. if there was a shortcut way to becoming a surgeon without compromising the quality of education or work, i would gladly do it, but i know there isn't any. so i looked into nursing, much shorter time in school but still with the experience and the exposure to the OR just not as hands on. and then physician assistants were mentioned, but i'm not sure what they do. Hmmmm boy. I don't think you have what it takes. You come across as being too wishy washy and not truly devoted and dedicated. Depends on what you feel you want to do. Physicians assistants don't do surgery as far as I know. My experience is that they do office visits. Surgical nursing is very hands-on, as is all nursing. Also, you would have no trouble getting a job in nursing as there is a nurse shortage right now. well first off a physicians assistant assists the dr. and reports back to him..you do some hands on things. A surgeon is about 12years of school. A surgical nurse wouldn't be bad..you could do the 4years of schooling then intern in the surgical unit then hopefully get hired there.. Otherwise have you thought about being a surgical tech.?They work hands on in the surgery rooms and assist the dr. during the surgery. |
