Where do I start? Who can help me? Can I do it? |
I'm a mother of 4, & I don't have a HS diploma. I want be a RN/critical care nurse. My children are getting older, fincance is low, and transportation is down. I went from a 19hr job to minumum wage (6hr) job so i can be home with the kids to monitor what's going on. One child is disable, and the others are middle age kids. I've tried everything & I'm not getting real family surport is there. I want to help my kids get the best education out of life. I realize that in order to help them I have to help myself first. I'm with carring for others, but I need document proof in order to do what I love. Can you help me? A free program, advice, some guidance, something helpful would do right now, I'm tired of living paycheck...... not even paycheck by paycheck, but change to change. I'm starting to feel like I'm living in a box, and I don't want to feel that way. Are you sure becoming an RN is really what you need to be focused on? It sounds like to me, you really need to focus on increasing your income first, then move towards your educational and long term goals. I'm looking for a job that pays little bit more than the 1 I have. I have time at home; about 3hrs which I'm going 2 split in half between my kids & myself 4 study & pray. check in your local community center. sometimes they offer classes for mothers (like typing and word processing for free) at least it can get u in the door, maybe doing medical billing. if u get in the door some jobs pay for schooling, tuition reimbursement as long as you go ointo thefiled. let them know thats you intention. keep searching around. try gettng a recruitment agency/head hunter to help you find a job that offers this. this way you can learn hands on andhave ur education paid for by your employer. first off seek a nearby school that can help you achieve that dream. Most schools or programs are funded with little or no cost and those people would have a wealth of knowledge about scholarships. so,, if you can leave your kids with someone while you go to school for 4 yrs,, you can maybe get some government grants for school. You'd also have to get on welfare to pay rent, buy food, pay utilities, etc. You can be an RN in as little as 2 yrs if you have excellent grades but since you didn't finish HS, you will have to take tard classes in college to catch up and make excellent grades to get into nursing school. They have more people trying to get in than they have room for, so they will only take the ones that are smartest and have the least amount of drama in their lives.. |
