Why the new generation lack in self discipline and attachment to the family.inspite of their good education?

Many of the families I have visited there house in a mess, the elderly complaint that their sons,daughters,grandchildren do not take any responsibility of cleanliness,basic house hold committments,they always expect the Seniors to do the jobs like cleaning,cooking,washing setting their rooms in order and even do all the out door works? The working young girls and boys hardly stay with their family their main time is spend on shopping,partying and other extra curricular sensless activities which is is not supposed be done according to our culture. Overflowing ward robes,footwear,cosmetics why these things are happening in majority of the families??Why the oldies still have to nurse them like they were in their primary level?? When these things will be realised by this generation and bring harmony and happy environment of togetherness?in our society?please give a practical wise suggestions. Also is it O.K. that new generation have a great respect and love to their family tree in prnciple

I don't care how decent their parents seem; it's their faults that the kids turned out like that.

teenagers, which fyi i am one, are becoming increasingly jerky. human kind is incredibly, profoundly and irreversibly SCREWED UP. thanks to sin, we all suck and we'll only get worse without accepting Christ as our savior. The next generation is so jerky cause people are getting slack in their punishment. they're too busy at work to care to punish their kids and teach them manners and self-discipline. don't just blame the younger generation and don't just blame the older one. blame mankind. blame sin. friggin adam and eve.....
neways, i'm sorry for any bad experiences you've had with teens, but we're not all jerks. =) some of us have been raised to respect our elders and work hard.

because culture and the tradition has changed

every generations has its own setbacks. u can't go on saying previous generatons was flawless. It's everyone's mindset living these days to always think of these problems wherein the problem of this kidster primarily embedded in our own milieu. An environment of mess and chaos ever since. So if we'll digress and go out to the mountains and bask in the sheer meadows you can't see these problems. The crux, lies in the future. Don't expose them too much in the future, it's not for us to see. It is a pit of less good and slew of sinisters. Let them live in a simpler way. Eat coconut everyday! Don't brush your teeth!

I am aged 51 years. You might be around me. New generation is not lacking in .... All are doing as per age. We did a lot of bad / against wish / desire of parents in our school / college days. Do not blames others. I never teach my 3 children. They are not ready to learn. Do your work. Manchaha karo aur manchaha karne do. Interfere only if any one is in problem / emergency. I am bad, very bad when I watch their activites. I am good if ....

In olden days joint effort was existing in joint family living. As time rolled on, the small families grew up and one or two children are taken care of giving maximum care and keeping their total time concentrated on school education only. It is natural when elders provide everything, I do not think on those lines and I study only. Even small works of cleaning or bringing vegetables are not taken care of. Every habit or action by children is repeated seeing parents and following their advice. That is not there in the present family set up. Hence, above actions and your vision on the topic has been questioned this way. Let us go back to old culture of training the young ones besides studies, think of how they get food, clothing and how they get everything. One day stop everything and let they not get tiffine, books and even the clothes are not washed. Feeling that they face trouble, we are forgetting that everything is taken care of and even they do have a duty to think upon their beings taken care of by themselves.

I'm not sure...it seems like the younger and younger generations are getting split off between two lunatic fringes: The people with no regard for others besides themselves, and those on the extreme opposite end. Look at my generation (I'm 21, mind you)

More and more children grew up with much less parental attention because of electronics, computers, and money were/are pacifiers for kids, meaning less time needed to rear a kid and more time to be spent at work or whatnot for the parents. This is the former lunatic fringe I mentioned, the apathetic (but very bright), lazy, whiny young adults who just do whatever and don't think twice of the consequences.

The second lunatic fringe comes in a different fashion. With the rise of religious "extremists" from all religions, the kids from this group are almost "overtaught" by their parents. They are not allowed to make a lot of their own decisions on their own and instead are taught to obey and teach others to do the same no matter what.

I'm not saying either one of these groups are bad, and not all kids from my generation fall into them. But the extreme partisianship you see in politics, the bipolar economy, and the slow fall of American dominance will get more severe before it gets better. I think with this generation (generation Y) unable to see eye-to-eye on issues, the world will be a much more voliatle and potentially dangerous place in 30 years than it is now.

I don't know the answer, but since old time AC greek philosophers, like Socrates, Platao, etc, they complain about the same. So, maybe it's just a point of view, it's common the parents, since ancient greek, think about the youngsters as crazy/lazy people ;)

We as Parents aren't instilling the same values in our children as our parents did with us.For instance the value of hard work RESPECT FOR THE ELDERLY.The cold hard truth is our kids are spoiled!!!.There's no structure, no consequence for bad behavior. Our children are disrespectful with no regard for anyone but themselves.We are teaching them to be selfish.I am including myself in my statement's. Because I have a child and I recently realized. That by loving him enough to give him what he wants all the time,by not spanking his rear end when he behaves badly, and by doing everything for him instead of making him do for himself.I was teaching him to be self centered and spoiled. I was taught better than this I was taught to show respect for my Parents and if I didn't I knew the consequince.A blistered behind.

Parents busy earning money. Children are left with others (Non family members like grand parents)=>Detatchment

Parent develop sense of guilt and try to companset by buying everything under the sun.. fulfilling the unjust desire of the children, letting them do whatever they want=>Lack in self discipline.
