Can a person find a shortcut to an RN degree if they hold a masters in special education?

I just don't want to put in 4 more years of training but i would like to be a nurse

Many schools are starting to offer second-degree accelerated programs for students who already have at least a bachelor's in a non-nursing field. Once you have some basic prerequisites out of the way, the length of the program itself can vary from 12-24 months (mine is 13 mo.). At the end, you'll earn a BSN and will be well on your way to becoming a RN. Check out some schools near you and see if they have a program.

aw don't cut the disabled short, they need you! nursing won't help fix an epidemic of helpless children!

Talk to a college rep.

You are going to be able to skip all of the intro classes like English, Algebra, and Humanities. So you will not have to take an entire 4 year course.

Tell the people at the school your planning to attend about your degree and ask them. You probably won't have to repeat any courses your present degree also covered.

There are some 2-3 year nursing programs for the registered nurse/RN. The local community college(s) should have an RN program. As another postee mentioned, you may have an edge as far as the liberal arts requirements, however, there should be certain math and science courses as prereq's too and each nursing program may have different requirements. Please steer clear from online, for profit schools such as university of phoenix, strayer and ITT tech. Former students of university of phoenix: http://www.uopsucks.com

For career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and search 'registered nurse' or such.

You already have 4 years.....so take the quick start program
that takes about a year and you'll be a supervising R.N.
Good luck, I'm a Special Ed. Teacher and non but the
brave go there. Ditto for you in your chosen field....
