What is the basic job description of an RN , the education, and the salary?

I want to become a nurse with a BSN. Any tips or experiences?

Check out the link below. It is from the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics, it gives some really good info for a career as an RN. The people I know that are RNs really love their job, they find it quite fulfilling. Also, after only 1 year, getting your LPN, you will easily be making more than $20 an hour, not to mention all of the overtime available. Most states are or will be in a major shortage of nurses. Nurses are desired more than any other profession. Just beware, most programs have huge waiting lists. After you get your BSN, look into your master's degree and become a Nurse Practitioner, there are tons of benefits to this career. Good luck.

This well trained health professional directs the daily care of hospitalised patients, coordinating a team of licenced nurses, nursing assistants and aides. The registered nurse sets nursing goals, maintains standards of care and performs tasks requiring medical knowledge, such as administering medications by intravenous line and caring for artificially ventilated and critically ill patients. They maintain patient records, monitor patients for changes in vital signs and involve physicians and other health care professionals as needed. The registered nurse can work in general nursing, or may specialise in pediatrics, geriatrics, critical care, community health care and other fields. Some work in community health programs, educating the public and improving awareness of common health hazards. Registered nurses work in hospitals, private doctors practices, clinics and the community.

Registered nurse salaries for all the above positions vary depending upon qualifications and certifications, as well as individual markets. For example, registered nurse salaries for those in the legal profession can range from $40 an hour to more than $100 an hour.

My mother was an ER nurse and a Coroner. My sister is now an RN as well going into Forensic nursing. God bless and best of luck with your career choice :)
