Im currently a medical assistant and want to continue my education...?

i want to become a nurse, work at a clinic where average around 45-55 hours per week, would it be more easier to become an lvn and then go to rn or just go to rn school

I would do RN. You do have the option in most programs to get your LPN (LVN) after the first year or so, but the program will continue until you get your RN. Let me tell you, you will have more opportunities as an RN then you will ever have as an LPN. You can do what I did, and get your Nurse Practitioners license, which is a masters degree. Then you can almost do everything a doctor can, but without all the stress of being the head boss. You can even open your own clinic or practice as a CNP.

You would also have the option of what field you want to go into. I went into obstetrics and gynecology, and I loved it!!! I still keep my license up, but I don't really work anymore. Sometimes I miss it!!

There are so many fields open now to nursing! You can work in an office, hospital, clinic, home health. The opportunities are almost endless!!! And further education is easier and more plentiful for nurses then for almost any other field!!

I started where you are too. I did my MA, CNA and EMT certs, then decided that I wanted to go further. So I decided to do my RN. Then, I did my BRN (Bachelor of Nursing), and from there, went right into the program for my Nurse Practitioner.

The hours will be long, and the schooling is pretty hard, but it's well worth it!!! And you already have a leg up on the other people who are just starting the programs!! Good luck to you!!!

Feel free to email me if you have questions!!!

just go to rn school, there will be some prerequisites mainly bio and psychology and chemistry and anatomy, but perhaps you have taken those classes already, some community colleges offer a nursing program. It would reduce the cost of tuition.

Just get your RN...man LVN's are having a very difficult time in finding work in a place other than a nursing home and some hospitals have stopped hiring them altogether.
