Is it true that you don't need a master's degree to become a Nurse Anesthetist? |
I want to become a crna and I had planned on getting a Bachelor鈥檚 of Science in Nursing (BSN) then a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia but I recently came across some info that said "No. The master's degree is not a prerequisite for a Nurse Anesthesia education program. However, Nurse Anesthesia programs are themselves graduate programs, leading to Master's degrees. You can find the specific requirements for each school on their Web sites or in their application forms." The CRNA(Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) program itself is a masters degree program. The prerequisite is a bachelor degree in nursing or a related field of science with an associates degree in nursing. Yes you will need a Masters degree. If it takes you four years I assume you will be working full time while in the Masters program? |
