What is the best school to go to for my Nursing degree (RN)? |
I on my way to becoming a RN. i just finishe my first year of college and im on my way to the military this summer. but where is the best place to finish my education for my BS? In my experience, your school is not the most important thing when learning to be a nurse. During your clinical rotations you need to be pro-active in getting practice. For instance, if you have just learned to start an I.V. tell all the nurses on the floor that you will start every I.V. on the floor that day. Do this with every procedure you learn. Actively seek out every possible opportunity to learn. Have an eager, excited attitude. In years past, student nurses actually worked in the hospital and had many hours of experience. This is what is missing from nursing education today. It really depends on where you live. I would suggest a state university over the private university. Not only the cost, but in my experience the state universities better prepare their students for the "real world" of nursing and the private schools prepare their students for administration/research. I know....I graduated from a private school...spent tons of money and the state university nurses could work circles around me after graduation! University of Portland. They have one of the best Nursing schools on the West Coast. the University of California at San Fran has recieved the most awards for their nursing program...followed by |
