Single parents going back to school need help with education costs?

I am a single parent going back to school to get my nursing degree. And I am needing help with paying for my books. I currently work 2 jobs just to make ends meet. I am wanting to go back to school so when my daughter gets ready to go to college I will be able to help her.

Breezy was right, although she typed the wrong URL. The address is www.fafsa.ed.gov (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You should also check with Financial Aid officials in the school(s) you are interested in attending. Even maybe check some special state programs, but they certainly will know more. Good luck!

My Friend Had The Same Problem But At This School They Told Her About FAFSA.com Financial Aid And The Pell Grant Maybe You Should Ask They Help Out Alot

first off i have so much respect to all single mom.. most of my friends are single mom... anyway... have u tried applying for loans? PELL GRANT, its free money... financial aid are available..those are the only options u have.. by the way i work at the hospital... i work with nurses and techs,,, good luck..

If you work in a medical job - sometimes they will pay for your schooling...try the scholarships on fastweb.com - good luck and good for you!

I am in graduate school - so I know about debt. Fill out a FAFSA - and just keep applying for scholarships. You would be suprised at how many you can find - even at your employers. I thought many states covered a nurses tuition etc. if he/she agreed to stay and work in the state for a few years - because of the nursing shortage???

try to get grants from the state...u should qualify....and u should see if ur jobs have grants they can give u..most jobs usually do u just have to ask

FAFSA is a good one. Also look into grants. They may even have legislative grants to help with tuition and books. They school finanial department should be able to help you out with finding the right one(s) for you. Hope this helps and good luck.

Check with a large hospital in your area. Many have scholarship programs for people who want to become nurses. Also, check with the state labor department to see if there are part-time openings in a nearby hospital. Most hospitals will pay the tuition for you to take nursing courses as long as you get passing grades.

Congratulations! Submit your FAFSA (don't pay for a service to complete your FAFSA, it is free!) and find out how much of the Federal Pell Grant you qualify for. It is based on income and size of household. Also, check for state grants and employment reimbursement.

Good luck!!!

You can fill out a FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov. Make sure you have your 2005 tax papers available so filling out the application is a breeze. I filed a renewal fafsa online and it took about 3 days for it to be processed. Make sure that you fill in the portion that asks for the school info so that once the fafsa is processed your school will automatically get a copy of the student aid report. You will be able to check the status of your application online as well and as soon as it is processed contact the school you requested to have the report sent to and they will pretty much tell you what to do from there. You can also go to GovBenefits.com and fill out a questionnaire and get an automatic online report of the government benefits that you may be eligible for. I wish you well in all your future endeavors :-)
