What are my chances of getting into nursing school without have to retake so many classes?

the prerequisites that i have already taken are:
freshman comp., c; college algebra, b; sociology,a; psychology,c; anthropology,a; i took these classes anywhere from 96 to 99. do you think i should have to retake those classes. i am considering taking the psychology and freshman comp again. i was young and irresponsible back then and did not take things very seriously when it came to my education. now that i am married with two children, i am more focused on things that are important. i am just wondering if because it has been a while since i have taken those classes, will i have to retake them. i already know that i will have to take chemistry and a few biology courses, i am only concerned about the prerequisites. please, serious answers only.......also, i have a bachelors degree in social work and i live somewhere in southern cali.

If you have a Bachelor's Degree already, you should not have to retake any pre-reqs. They should put you straight into the program, provided there is not a wait list. Most schools give you extra points for having a Bachelor's Degree, if there is a weighted point system that determines who gets in when.

As for retaking classes, I wouldn't retake anything I didn't have to. You know you'll need the BIO classes, and trust me, that's enough to keep you busy!!

Just check in with admissions at the school you plan to attend. They can tell you if they require classes over a certain age to be retaken (some schools have a 10 year maximum). Find out if they ever waive that requirement.

I am in your same position. Almost all my pre-reqs were completed in 1992-1993, and a few in 1997-1998. They only made me retake Medical Terminology. Those core classes are subjects that don't change.

Good luck!!

It really depends on the school you are going to be attending. Some programs will accept those classes as far back as ten years but just the sciences have to be within the last four years. Go talk to the counselors at the colleges you want to attend and they will let you know what they can accept and what you will have to take over.
