What is difference between a R.N (Registered Nurse) and a B. S. Nursing graduate (BSN) and LPN? |
In terms of years of college education? In terms of duties and responsibilities with regards to hospital and patient work? WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER? In terms of employability, which is better? what licensure examinations does one have to take? In terms of duties and responsibilities with regards to hospital and patient work, that generally vaires by hospital, but with a higher degree you generally have more opportunities for management positions. About 30 thousand a year http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registered_... BSN would be the best option as far as depth of training and pay, its a 4 year degree, and because they get special training are able to get management positions if they want within a hospital. (but they can choose to do the duties an RN would have if they'd prefer). RN I believe doesn't have as much extra training as the BSN but as far as patient care skills they would be on the same level training wise as a BSN. An LPN (or LVN in some states) is less training and less money, and I've actually heard that in a lot of places jobs for them are on the decline, so I would not recommend going for that if there is an RN or BSN program available. i am an lpn and i chose it because the training was only a year as opposed 2-3 at the least. i needed money and a career faster than that. the pay is not that different- about five dollars an hr less or 10,000 a yr not 30,000. as far as the duties according to where you work they are very similar. i only need 4 classes to be an rn, but being an lpn has benefits. there are more doctor office/ clinic jobs available to lpns due to less pay. with kids i need day shift and am very happy with my choice.
