Question about nursing....?

Currently I am studying to get my RN.. but I am thinking of switching to a tech. school to get my LPN, and then further education into a RN and so on...

Have any of you done this?? How long will it take.

hey loopypup- i would like to know where your. getting your info from. how would becoming a lpn be more difficult than getting a RN??? 1.5 years is cake compared to getting a RN. CAKE. your mom is telling you all wrong.

Are you actually IN an RN program right now and thinking of dropping out, or are you just working on pre-requisites and waiting to get into an RN program and don't want to wait? Explain exactly why you want to switch and I can give you a better answer, but IMO if you know you want to be an RN, don't give up on it. If you're in the program stick it out, you won't regret it. If you're just wanting to get working as some kind of nurse because you can't get into a RN program, that's fine to do the LPN first and complete RN later - just don't quit if you're in an RN program already!

what, are they eating you alive in their? Nursing instructors eat their young.

actually she is right, a LPN is a licensed practicing nurse, a LPN can dispense meds and takes a masters degree. You are thinking that you want to become a LVN a licensed vocational nurse which is just a step under the RN.

I have applied to an LPN class that starts this fall.
It takes only 11 months for the LPN certificate.
I will eventually work toward my RN which requires an Associate or Bachelor's degree.

Do not stop what you are doing to get a lesser degree. Stay the course and graduate with your RN.
