How do you become a nurse in the military?

I am a junior in high school and thinking about enlisting. I am in a nurse aid class. Can you get your nursing education in the air force and if so how. What branch would you recoment becoming a nurse in

For Army ROTC information, go to http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/. The military will send you to school for 4 years. Do not enlist for nursing....I am an Army LPN and it is just not worth it. Make sure your grades in school are good, try to get into good shape, and do all the activities you can in your senior year. This will help you get accepted to school.

Branch really depends on what you want to do. Air force nurses generally are on planes deployed, taking care of troops who are being evaced. I have no clue as to what they do back home though. There also is an Air Force hospital in Balad, Iraq, where they have AF nurses. The Army nurses pretty much work in a hospital.

Air Force or Navy, the military pays for your education first and then you serve. I know a guy who then thought he could whine his way out on a discharge but his parents had to cough up $35,000 or he was heading to jail. (Of course then he never paid his parents back either).

I believe all the branches of military have program where they will pay for your nursing degree if you already have an undergraduate degreee in science (something you need to have anyway to get into most nursing schools.)

Talk to an Air Force recruiter. They can guide you in the current programs offered. Generally, though, the doctors, nurses, and lawyers have their education completed when they enter the military and then enter as officers. However, you can definitely receive education in the military. A potential career path for you may be working in the medical field such as an EMT which you CAN do enlisted, and after you complete that training and any local base training, you can start school towards your BSN (Bachelor in Nursing) and apply to OTS when you become a nurse. Remember that at you age a lot can change before you are ready. The military has several nursing programs, but they all center around you becoming a nurse. So your emphases at this time is EDUCATION. Without the grades you will not get into a nursing school.
