What education and schooling do you have to have to become a nurse? |
what degrees, how many years of college, what type of college courses should I take to become a nurse Depends on how far you want to go. LPN (licensed practical nurse) only takes 10 months & then you can take your boards & you're done. RN (registered nurse) is an associates degree program(2 years). You can keep going up to a doctorate degree. Most nurses that work in hospitals have at least their RN. If you don't mind nursing home work, you can start out as an LPN. Although with the nursing shortage now, a lot of hospitals are now hiring more LPNs. Either way, it's a good, satisfying career where you can always find work...good luck!!
