What type of education is required to becon a pediactric nurse?

What type of education is required to becon a pediactric nurse?

Most Pedi Nurses are either RN's or LVN's.

An RN degree can be obtained in as little as 2 years (ASN) to 4 years (BSN) with higher degrees available all the way to PhD's in nursing.

An LVN degree usually takes 18-24 months. Nothing against LVN's but they are limited in their career advancement due to most management type positions requiring RN BSN as a minimum.

If you are interested in nursing (any type, not just pedi) I would suggest checking out your local college or university and enroling in the RN program. Then, once your finished with school, the sub-specialty can be learned on the job (ER, Pedi, ICU, OR, OB/Gyn to name a few) There are just so many more options with the RN program vs. the LVN route.

Hope this helps.

No saber

you should be a graduate

Get your RN it is a two year program at any accredited nursing school. Then once you pass your boards you can choose what you want to do. Once you have an RN you can work anywhere in any type of field, ped's, l&D, nicu, icu, geritatrics etc.
