Professions with a Nursing degree?

I am currently persuing a nursing degree. I am almost done with my pre-requisite classes. I am applying to the program in the winter. I am planning on furthering my education later on after I become a liscenced R.N. What are some areas that I could specialize in. Such as an Anestist assitant or other professions that begin as an R.N. Thank you very much.

There's no need to be anyone's assistant. You can go on to become a Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CNA), Midwife, Nurse Practitioner (need an MSN) in many areas, APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse), CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), Perfusion nurse, Dialysis nurse, Chemo nurse and the list goes on. As an RN you will have more autonomy and more career paths to pursue. You might want to contact the ANA (American Nurses Association) or your state BRN (Board of Registered Nursing) and get a comprehensive list of the specialties available for RNs.

FYI: Becoming a PA is not "going on", it's a lateral step. Don't leave nursing.

CRNA (Certified Register Nurse Antsiest) Nurse Practitioner, you could actually go on an be a PA physician's assistance. Good Luck
