Question about grants for education? |
I am a afro american, married mother of 2, just turned 40 and want to pursue a nursing career. Would anyone know if there are any grants out there for people like me? Am I too old to pursue further education? NEVER TOO OLD now is the best time!!! You are never to old to pursue your dreams. You are NEVER too old to pursue your education. Your grants will be based on the information you provide in your Free Application of Student Aid (or FAFSA) this is where the bulk of your educational grants are going to come from. You also want to contact the college and see what kind of scholarships they have for minority and older students (they have scholarships for non-traditional students that I'd LOVE to get my hands on!! bunches of $$). Just call the financial aid department of the college you are thinking about attending and ask them about your options. No you're not too old and I think it's great you want to go! Which ever college you want to attend, either get online to their main website and do a search for grants. I'm not sure if grants are available to undergraduates but scholarships are. The school's website should have a list and there will be more for minorities!! If you're not having any luck online, try to contact someone in the registrars or admissions offices to see if they can send you in the right direction. Good luck!! You are NOT too old to pursue further education. Nursing is a great field to enter. There are nursing shortages nationwide. Many hospitals are giving incentives for hiring nurses. It's a tough job, but you help a lot of people and it can be very rewarding. |
