How difficult is the NLN nursing program entrance exam?

I am going to take the National League of Nursing's (NLN's) LPN/LVN exam in a few days to enter a nursing program at a local college. I am pretty much switching majors as I have been pursuing a career in education up until now.

I am fairly intelligent (not to toot my own horn here), I got a 29 on my ACT and just a few points under 1400 on my SAT exams. I have been out of school for almost two years now, since I have had my daughter.

I already own a study book for it and the study book is generally a breeze, but I am still feeling very nervous about it. This is a big deal for me.

Does anyone have any comments? What was the hardest section? What is on there? What is the layout of the test like? Is there a lot of mathematics, or a lot of reading and comprehension? How did you do?

If you have taken a college level biology and chemistry (freshman level), and are ok in math, you'll do just fine. I was so scared of taking it, to the point of panicking. I came out feeling very unsure if I had done well enough. When I got my score back, I was pleasantly surprise to learn I was in the 96th percentile - remember, your score is based on other students taking the exam, it's not a "raw" score exam where you get a grade based only on your percentage of correct answers.

The NCLEX entrance exam is very similar to the ACT, you did just fine on both your ACT and SAT, so you'll have nothing to worry about.

**Edit: I just noticed you said LPN - sorry, I was refering to the RN exam, which is probably harder if they are different tests. I am actually surprised to hear that a LPN program requires an entrance exam. You'll have no trouble at all, don't worry.

Nothing is difficult when you have proper preparation...!!!

It is very difficult. Study as much as you can.
