Very Interested in Nursing? |
I have already gone to school once and I did not get the education I wanted and now I need to get going on nursing school. I have had some events take place in my life and it has changed my mind about the career path I want to take. what is the best way to go about getting into nursing? Is it getting my cna then 2 year and then 4 year then masters, or start as an lpn or just get my two year get a job and go from there. I 23 I have a mortgage, car payments etc so I have to do this all at night Just as an FYI: I already have two degrees, one in criminal justice and the other in psychology. I would like to do nursing now because over the last year I have had to take care of my dying father and took an interest in doing it for a living. I am trying to find the best way to go about doing. you don't have to be a cna to be a nurse, although that's how a lot of students get their start. You should look into nursing programs at local colleges. Some colleges offer an RN degree in two years, some you have to go four years to get an RN. A school by me offers an LPN in one year, and an RN in two years. A lot of colleges are going that route now and cutting out all the "unnecessary" classes. I think it's because there's such a shortage of nurses. I am only a doctor. Oh, that's too bad. If you didn't get sucked into a mortgage with a guy who won't marry you, you'd be able to focus on yourself and your education. Bummer! I'm not sure, but at least in my area of the country (SouthEast US), to be able to get a bachelor's of science in nursing, you are going to need your days free. All of our classes and clinicals are during the day. Personally, I think you are better off just going for your bachelor's degree. You'll have more doors open to you in the career (administration, etc.) and it will be less likely for the hospital to screw you over with new rules. Also, it's just a guess, but you probably already have bachelor's degrees, so most likely your core classes (lit, science, math, history, etc) will carry over when you go for a BSN. |
