Nursing carrers?

Hello! I am interested in a nursing carrer. Can any nurses tell me how much you get paid yearly, what education you have to have, what exactly you do in your job, and oF course, do you like it? Thanks! Every answer is greatly appreciated!

Pay varies from state to state and job to job. You also get paid shift differentials (extra money for working shifts other than day shift). The education required is dependant on the type of nurse you want to be: an LVN/LPN (licensed vocational/licensed practical nurse) or an R.N. (registered nurse). The duties you do also depend on which type of nurse you are. R.N.s have far more responsibility and many procedures are only delegated to the R.N.

I loved nursing. I am now "retired"...it will be a year at the end of this month. Nursing is a career you will either love or hate..there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. You will also find the area that you prefer to work in. I have worked ICU/CCC, dermatology, OB/GYN, same day surgery and, my personal favorite, E.R. which is where I have most of my experience.

It is a very rewarding profession. I still use my knowledge constantly. I often answered questions for neighbors, family and friends or have given allergy shots or done stitch removal for them with their physician's consent. Now, I spend time each day here answering medically related questions. Hope some of this helped. ;)

Hi there, I have been a nurse for 4 years now. Your salary depends on where you live and whether you work nights or days as there is shift differental. I make apx 20.00 an hour working nights with full benefits. I work "full time " at 36hrs a week ( 3- 12 hour shifts) I do really like it , but the paper work is a bit much. My favorite part is patient education and ( as I work in labor and delivery) helping a woman through her rough hours. It is a good job with a nice demand ( meaning you should always have a job!) and you can specialize in any area that you find interesting ( that's a cool benefit!) Good Luck!!
