What is the required education to be a registered nurse?

Well, you can get a two year associate's degree in nursing, or a four year bachelor's degree in nursing, and then go on to graduate school if you like. If you would like to eventually teach, or get in to administrative work as a nurse, you would need at least a bachelors degree. You must take lots of science classes (biology, zoology, anatomy and physiology, etc.), and basic math and english classes, before entering into a nursing program. If you are interested in becoming a nurse, I would have to tell you, PLEASE CHECK IT OUT FIRST. I am a registered nurse, and nursing can be a very stressful job, to say the least! There is so much paperwork today in nursing, that it can be extremely difficult to even give good patient care. Good luck to you though, if you do decide to pursue this area of education!!

It takes a bachelor's degree specific to nursing. Fair warning: you will have to take Gross Anatomy, which I am told is aptly named.

Good luck! Anyone who can handle such a job deserves a big salary and lots of benefits. I can't even imagine it, I'm so squeamish.

i'm not sure if it varies from state to state but i'm pretty sure in new york you only need an associate's (2 year) degree in nursing. i dont even think u need that to be a LPN (liscensed practical nurse).
the first answer is wrooooooooong. i'm 99% sure you can be a registered nurse (in NY at least) with an associate's degree.
