NURSE EDUCATION HELP !!!!! PLEASE PLEASE !! help !?

Can you live happily as a nurse ..I mean i want to become a doctor ...but it is going to take forever and a lot of hard work ..i am still doing some research before anything ..because i want to become a doctor more then anything in this world ...but does a nurse make very good money and can live happily with her salary ?? Like would i be able to support my kids have a nice home and a nice car being a nurse ?? What is the difference between a nurse and a nurse practioner also ?? Please answer !! Thank you

As an RN you'll make $50,000 a year-probaly more depending on where you live. When you get maried, you're combined income will definately be enough to have nice things. A nurse practitioner is almost like a doctor (can prescribe meds, ect) but still has to go to school for 6 years. You can be an RN in as little as 2.

You should shadow each of the professions you are interested in..ask around..or volunteer..I would not become a Dr just for money..you will be miserable....most Drs get out of school w avg of 100k-175k in debt...

Nurses make anywhere from 60,000 to 80,000 per year which is a good salary. Doctors (general practicioners) make around 100,000 to 120,000 depending. You can look up salaries online simply search for them. If you really want to be a doctor then go be a doctor. If school is that big of a deal then you probably don't want to be a doctor that badly. Nurse practicioners have a bachelors degree in nursing and take an extra two years and another licensing exam. good luck

I want to be a nurse too, and I does pay really good money. Enough(If you get the right nursing job),to support your kids, have a awsome house, have a awsome car and a in-ground pool.

Absolutely!! A RN starts out at like 20-25 dollars per hour + shift differentials (depending on which shift you work you could easily make 30-35/hr) and more depending on what state you live in. California pays a lot more (35-50/hr +shift diffs) but there cost of living is really high.
With Nursing you also have soooo much flexibility. If you start out in say....ICU and then want to work mother-baby...you can. Also, once you have experience you can work for an agency who assigns you and they make about 40% more than your regular staff nurse. You can take travel jobs-ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD that pay you sign on bonuses for signing a contract with the facility. A married couple I know who are both nurses cleared over 175,000 (between the two of them) this last year for taking a 13 month travel job and 20,000 of that was their sign on bonus and they got a 3,000 a month living allowance to pay for rent, gas...etc... while on their assignment.

Nursing is a very hard thing to do, its in no way easy and I can tell first hand that the nursing program in school kicks your butt....you have got to be willing to study and basically give up your life to the program but it is MOST DEFINITELY worth it.

Nurse Practicians have a masters degree, can prescribe medications (in most states) and are experts in assessment. They are supervised by a physician who signs off behind them. They make excellent money. A friend of mine graduated last year and I ask her how much her pay increased and she said 37%, so its very good money as well. You are still a nurse, just a highly educated nurse who can diagnose the same as a doctor to a certain point where they have to refer someone if its out of their scope of practice.

You could also become a PA, (masters degree) or Physicians Assistant in which depending on what Doc you work for, they train you to basically see patients for them and you get specialized training in whatever field the Doc is in. So, if you worked for a cardiology group or say a cardiothoracic surgeon, you would have special training in vein harvesting for open heart patients and would assist in the operating room as well as round on patients after surgery. This pays about the same as a Nurse Practioner but you are very, very marketable after you have some experience and your pay increases more rapidly the more valuable you become.

My advice to you is not get your ADN get your BSN. They are both RN's and can do the same thing, but with your BSN you are prepared to go back to school right away and start on a masters degree at some point. An ADN is an associates degree and if you want to go back to school you first have to get your bachelors before you move on to the masters.
