For nursing students:How do you motivate each other at school inorder to make it till the end of the education

And as nursing students, What makes you think that you are going to be a successful nurse in the future?

Keeping motivated in nursing school can be extremely hard. I know that all too often I feel overwhelmed and that just puts me more behind; before I know it I'm in over my head and just can't bring myself to tackle that mountain in front of me. What helps me out best when I'm feeling this way is encouragement from my fellow students. My class is very big on being there for each other. We all truly believe that the best way to survive and thrive in nursing school is to have each other's backs. We all share notes, study tips, and review books with each other. We've formed study groups. We help each other out at clinicals. In the end, we are just there for each other. We approach nursing school as a boot camp of sorts, knowing we are all in this together.

Another big thing is to spend time outside of school with your classmates. Socializing together helps to foster a great environment for learning because we are comfortable with each other and trust one another.

Talking with the seniors who are about to graduate always helps. It's nice to gain a little perspective from those who've gone before us and are succeeding. My school has this Senior Buddy program where you are paired up with a senior at the beginning of the program. They take you on, kind of like a mentorship type thing. It's good to have that friend you can call and cry to, saying "how on earth did you survive this?" and know that they made it through. Knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel is a powerful thing.

Ultimately, I think learning to lean on each other is the best thing you can do for yourselves. Hopefully your family and friends outside of school love and support you as best as possible, but in a lot of ways they lack since they haven't been where you are. I find it comforting to be able to call up a friend and cry about a care plan I'm working on and not have to explain what a care plan is and why I'm crying.
