I just graduated with my bachelor's in education. I am thinking of going into nursing, what do you all think?

I just graduated, oppurtunities in Michigan for teachers are slim to none. I don't know if I should stick with the teaching profession or move into nursing.

I think you should apply for teaching positions out of state. I'm sure there is a state you have always wanted to live in, give it a try!

You should at least try being a teacher for a year before you consider nursing school.

This couldn't have come as a complete surprise to you at this point! Nobody studies that much! Why didn't you research your career-path prior to setting your major? I would consider moving to another area if teaching is what you really want to do. It's certainly an honorable vocation. If you can't find anything locally, try the surrounding area. If that fails, then consider moving into nursing! There is no guarantee that you will just walk into a job in that area either, so try to use what you have if possible. AND CONSIDER A MOVE IF NECESSARY! Good luck......!

What's holding you in Michigan? In Texas, there is such a shortage of teachers that anybody with a bachelor's in anything can teach (if they agree to start master's classes in ed). Get a TX newspaper or Google TX jobs--we need you here!

You can always go into nursing.

You probably have all the classes and would need only two years of nursing to get your bachelors in nursing.

Those are very different fields - think carefully on which you'd prefer. If you decide on teaching, you might have to move out of state.

Both professions involve hard work and a lot of emotional investment to do them well. Both can be very rewarding, with decent pay and the satisfaction of seeing how you've helped people.

We will always need teachers and nurses. These are honorable professions. Do you like teaching? How about a masters so that you can teach adults, as well. If you want to make money, become a football star or movie actress. Did you like student teaching? What about law school. You could teach law. You need to talk to a couselor. You can go all sorts of ways but where are your interests? Young children? Volunteer in a hospital for a while before you jump to nursing. It's a rough curriculum.
