Can Anyone can tell me any problem which concerns on nursing practices, education, health, community?

or maybe concerning on nurse patient relationships or nurse experiences? its a requirement ^^ can anyone help me pls... tnx a lot!

I work at a hospital as a phlebotomist. I enjoy what I do and enjoy interacting with patients.

However, I see a lot of Rn's that just flat out do not treat the patients with respect. I have seen elderly patients that soil themselves and do not get changed for hrs, even after I bring this to the attention of the nurse. Even something as simple as bringing the patient a cup of water, they will have their assistants do it while the sit there and play solitaire on their computers. It seems the longer that they have been a nurse the less they care about the patients as see them as a burden rather than the reason they even have a job. Not ALL are like this but quite a few.

It is terrible how some patients don't get treated as people who have feelings. Especially the elderly. These people have lived long lives and have been through so much and deserve respect.

I can also tell you as far a others practicing phlebotomy..a concern of mine is that not everyone wears gloves or will "pop" their finger out to better feel for a vein. That is so unsanitary!! Plus lots of health care workers do not wash their hands between patients like they are supposed to, which can spread illness.

I believe on eof the problems most talked about is communication. Bad communication can lead to misdiagnosis of the patients problems. Also by not really listeneing to the patient important information can be lost. Another aspect of it is that patients respond better to health professionals who communicate better. this is because the patient feels as if the nurse really listens to them and respects their views and opinions. this can also touch on the community as good communication skills can be used to promote health education and awareness of the community. Good Luck
