What's the chance of my reproductive organs being damaged from rape? |
I was raped for several years when I was younger, approx. ages 4-8. I'm 21 now, and I've always had regular periods. In my adult life I've always had protected sex, except for one occasion when the condom came off during sex, and I have never gotten pregnant before, which is normal. But my fiance and I were talking about children the other day, and he brough up the fact that I may not even be able to have children because I could have been damaged from the rape. I've never been to a gynocologist or anything like that either. I was just wondering if there was anyone who has the knowledge, like a doctor or nurse, that knew what the likely hood of me not being able to have kids would be, given the known information. Thanks. i'm not a doctor or a nurse yet, but i am a 3rd year pre med student. it really depends on the rapist's condition..if he had an std or infection..then maybe he could have passed it on to you, and you could possibly have pelvic scarring from the incedent. you really should go to a gyno though..being 21, you are due. well, noone on the computer can exactly give you the correct information. i would go to a gyno and have them check you out. and if you feel uncomfortable about telling them about your rape, dont tell them unless they ask. :) |
