What can be the causes of a High Resting Heart Rate? |
I am a 22 year old female, slightly overweight. I am not that physically active, but I do work out a few times a week. My resting heart rate sits around 130 bpm, and when I am in pain( had an ear infection) it went up to 146 bpm. The nurse at the hospital seen it and said I was 22 years old... and that I can handle it. Heart problems run in my family, and sometimes I get minor chest pains from over exsurtion when working out. I am going to the doctors again soon but was just looking for some information about this to ease my mind until I get in to see my physician. I am not, and have not been on any medications since this has been going on, well since I knew about it. This topic will help you out , but seeing your cardiologist/physician is mandatory: Are you on any medicine? That can make it go up. You should check with your doctor. Only your doctor can advise you on that... There all some many levels that work at hospitals and not everyone is a "nurse". A couple yrs ago mine was up and I'm thin and exercise around thirty it was due to my medicine I was at the time. my heart rate is higher than my husbands also. when i am sick or in pain it will skyrocket. i have a high family history of heart problems also. my blood pressure is on a roller coaster and changes dramatically too. i would find a dr to discuss it with and maybe run some tests to see if it is just "normal" for you. if you find out now and get a baseline it will give you something to go by. it is hard to explain to dr's and nurses that it is "normal" for you when not at your regular dr. many think i have problems because my "normal" is not normal for everyone else I hope You get well soon.. I'm doing my best to help every1 to cure their illness including you.. with my Islam Prayers.. You don`t have to vote me for the best answer.. im doing this for free.. I only hopping we all get bless & Cure from Allah the most Mercyfull.. See the improvement result Lack of Exercise! Start taking a 20 minute walk everyday...it will be hard the first week but will get easier every day and you will feel much better in just two short weeks. Pretty soon you will be hiking on the weekends for entertainment. when you are sick, or when you are exerting or exercising your heart rate will rise, and yes a 22 year old heart can handle, or should be able to handle, this fast of a rate.....BUT having a resting heart rate of 130 is not normal.....I'm glad you are seeing your doctor soon, when, how soon?....check your own resting heart rate often, write it down and take to your MD.... I'd try to not exert myself until you get this checked out by your MD.... If you want to bring your heart rate down their are a few things you can do... |
