Looking for sites with legitimate Nursing Scholarships. I would appreciate any help!

There are a lot of scholarship programs out there for those interested in nursing due to the nursing shortage. There are some student loan forgiveness programs, too. All the sources below are free to apply for consideration.

First, fill out the FAFSA form because it will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. The form is available for the fall semester or quarter January 1.

Second, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for current high school students to apply for consideration.

Third, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Also, the nursing degree program website probably has a list of scholarships.

Finally, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for scholarships and grants for nursing students in your state.

Another way besides the internet is to pick the school you wish to attend, and work with their Financial Aid staff. They can get you into their system, and you can apply through the school to many different loan and grant programs at once. Usually they get back results, telling you what you qualified for, and what the stipulations are.

School Financial Aid departments are also usually staffed by people who have inside tricks to make this process easier (and quicker!) due to their experience, so your best bet is to let the school's Financial Aid department assist you, after picking a school you would like to try to attend. They want your admission, because they want the tuition. So they want to help you! Give them a try.
