What does it takes to be a/have a humanitarian job?need help?

I know it needs dedication to the poverty, but is there any qualifications that is needed??to do a humanitarian job,and can one start on its own?? meaning:not joining any big organizations, just start on his/her own, going to poor countries and helping them??and if i want to be a nurse,is it more applicable to do humanitarian work?pls give me some pointers..thanks

This is a non-salaried job,am i right?if so,how do the humanitarian ppl support themselves??for living

You don't have to join a large organization to do humanitarian work, you don't even have to leave the country. Your skills are badly needed here and there are various ways you can put them to use.
A good way to start is to volunteer for an organization you really believe in. Find out what your strengths and interests are and how much time and energy you are willing to devote.
If you'd like to go into a full-time non-profit career, look for a job that will emphasize your passions, you don't want to get burned out. Non-profit jobs pay less than corporate jobs, but many of them pay living wages and provide excellent benefits.
If you are studying nursing look into volunteering with a free-clinic or hospice center. Donate your time to assisting people who are high-risk or low income. Teach a class on health and wellness, nutrition or safe sex.

I am not sure what you are asking???
Are you asking how to start a Not-for-profit organization?

It is rough starting something on your own. Going through a large organization to start out would probably be better. You can always strike out on your own later!

The Peace Corps is one place to start.

Try one of these links for starters.

Good luck!

you could start doing a humanitarian job to your neighbors. . . :)

that wouldn't require you to be with a large organization.

but if you want a larger scale, then maybe you would need the aid of a larger organization.

I am the director of Free Medical Help here in the Philippines, a native U.S. citizen and we do pay our professional people a living wage.
For a nurse, we pay about $200.00 - $250.00 per month.
The average person lives fairly well here for about $100 per month here.
It is cheaper for us and lets us have more for the needy and although you won't get rich on it, you will survive as if you were at home with $1,000.00 - $1,200.00 per month.
If you are ever interested in working here, please feel free to contact us.
Also, here as in most countries, you must post at least $20,000.00 in operating capitol before you are allowed to do any kind of non-profit type work.
